German musician Frank Dorittke, aka F.D. Project, was originally a guitarist from the Dinslaken-based band Imagine. He became interested in electronic music in about 1991 and was soon influenced by the music of Tangerine Dream (“Stratosfear”) and Jean Michel Jarre. Frank couldn’t resist stepping into the depths and before long he was composing his own electronic music which would end up as his debut album “Electronic Dreams”.

To his astonishment, F.D. Project was chosen "Best Newcomer" at Schallwende and the German Schwingungen Wahl 2003, and in the following years he won other prizes at the same events. In 2004 he composed “Blue Vision” complimenting his electronic music with some splendid electric guitar work. In the same year, he gave his first live performances and won third place as “Best Electronic Musician” at Schallwende while “Blue Vision” was chosen second “Best” cd at the same event. The following years saw the release of a number of very successful cd and dvd releases.

Frank has also released a free downloadable album through Pharmacom Records under the moniker “Mare Tranquillitatis“. This double album pays a sweet tribute to the old Berlin-School, offering over two hours of groovy, rhythmic and quite cinematic music. The expertly played electric guitar plays an important part here, bringing to mind elements of Tangerine Dream's "Encore" and some vintage work from Pink Floyd.

The versatile and very accessible music of F.D. Project is not that easy to define as its influences range from Tangerine Dream to Mike Oldfield while smoothly blending elements from the Berlin School and striking guitar riffs. Sometimes the compositions can be melodic and up-tempo, other times they switch to captivating atmospheric textures and soundscapes, but you can always count on some brilliant guitar playing at one of F. D. Project's live performances!
